This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help teachers motivate students to learn skills that will help them succeed and be happy in the work place of the future.

Participants will:

  • explore authentic and incentive motivation theories.
  • read the TED Book The Way We Work and compare its content with the classroom reality and the reality of life outside the classroom.
  • view TED Talks and relate the content of each talk  to the classroom and the personal and professional life of the teacher.
  • write about how students can be prepared to succeed and be happy in the work place of the future.

This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help you as teacher allow creativity to flow from your students and become part of the classroom experience

Participants will:

  • be led to understand through web resources how creativity is smothered by the present school system.  
  • read and review the TED Book The Future of Architecture in 100 Buildings  by Marc Kushner.
  • compare and contrast the feelings relating to the ideas from the Ted book and the two web resources.
  • view six TED Talks and relate the content of each talk to the problem of teaching creativity.
  • write about how students’ creativity can flourish in the school system of today so that they can be a part of development of the future.

 

This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help teachers motivate students to learn skills that will help them succeed and be happy in the work place of the future.

  • through web resources be given information used to process learning.
  • read and review the TED Book Follow Your Gut by Rob Knight.
  • comment on the effectiveness of assigned learning processes.
  • view six TED Talks and relate the content of each talk to a learning process.
  • make a written statement of how students can be motivated to become life explorers.

This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help teachers motivate students to learn skills that will help them succeed and be happy in the work place of the future.

Participants will:

  • through web resources explore various ways that a teacher can make a positive first impression upon her/his students.
  • read and review the TED Book Judge This by Chip Kidd.
  • review the qualities that make up an impressive person.
  • view six TED Talks and relate the content of each talk to being a positive classroom influence.
  • write about how a teacher can make a positive first and lasting impression up on her/his students.

This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help the teacher to understand  and prepare  his/her students for the effect that technology has and will have upon humanity. .

Participants will:

  • Through web resources be exposed to the effects of technology upon humanity
  • Read and review the TED Book The Art of Stillness
  • Compare and contrast the positive and negative effects of technology
  • View six TED Talks and relate the content of each talk  to the effects of technology
  • Make a written statement of how students can be prepared for the effective of technology

This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help the teacher to create effective changes and life choices that go along with a changing world

Participants will:

  • through web resources recognize the need for change in the school structure.
  • read and review the TED Book Beyond Measure by Margaret Heffernan.
  • compose a philosophically based plan for changing the classroom now and in the future.
  • view six TED Talks and relate the content of each talk  to change and choice.
  • write about how students can be prepared for the choices that need to be made in a changing world.

This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help the teacher to understand the importance of the need to explore and to motivate students to become life explorers.

Participants will:

  • through web resources investigate the many needs of humans to explore.
  • read and review the TED Book How We’ll Live on Mars by Stephen Petranek.
  • compare and contrast 15th century colonization with the colonization of Mars.
  • view six TED Talks and relate the content of each talk  to the need to explore.
  • write about how students can be motivated to become life explorers.

This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help the teacher prepare students to be self-determined learners

The Participant will:

  • through web resources be introduced to inspiring examples of people who have through self-determination accomplished astonishing feats.
  • read and review the TED Book The Terrorist’s Son by Zak Ebrahim.
  • compare and contrast self-determining people.
  • view six TED Talks and relate the content of each to various aspects of self-determination.
  • write about how students can be prepared to be self-starting learners.

This course will use a TED Talk book, online TED Talks and web resources to help the teacher prepare students to be self-determined learners

Participants will:

  • Through web resources experience methods of determining self-awareness
  • Read and review the TED Book The Boiling River: Adventure and Discovery by Andres Ruzo
  • Transform the message of the book The Boiling River to a message for the classroom
  • View six TED Talks and relate the content of each talk to the importance of the search for self-awareness
  • Make a written statement of why it is just as important for students to have the knowledge of who they are as it is to have knowledge about the world
