This course is based upon the research and best practices of veteran teachers Gail Boushey and Joan Moser, as outlined in their widely read and acclaimed book, The Daily Five: Fostering Literacy Independence in the Elementary Grades (Stenhouse, Inc., 2006). Teachers will read the book and follow the recommended routines and mini-lessons for launching and building stamina for the Daily Five series of literacy tasks: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Word Work, and Work on Writing.
