The benefits of meditation practice are quickly becoming more widely realized and researched. Mindfulness practices are a way to bring the benefits of meditation into the classroom while avoiding any of the religious stigmatism associated with it. In this course, you will learn about the different forms of meditation, the benefits that have been discovered both scientifically and from schools that have brought meditation into the classroom, as well as learn some basic mindfulness techniques that you yourself can bring into the classroom to benefit your students and your school that can be accessible to all students.

Goals:

  • To gain an understanding of the different forms and techniques of meditation.
  • To understand the concerns that might be raised in trying to bring meditation into the classroom and how to address / avoid these concerns.
  • To learn some basic techniques that can be used in the classroom.
